DEMETRA ANKLE BOOT

Minimal is easy to claim and hard to build. The Demetra, in black suede, is modelled on a classic sock shape, which is about as few parts as a boot can have.

The suede is soft and water-resistant, the toes are square, and the block heels repeat that geometry underneath at 2.5”. The shaft stands 6” with a 9” circumference, so it grips just above the ankle without a fastening. A thermal lining handles the warmth and a rubber outsole takes the ground. Made in Italy.

Transitional is the right word for it: this is what gets worn in the weeks either side of winter, under cropped trousers where the square toe shows. It is a quiet boot, so let it sit under something with more shape and do its job.
